[St. Paul, MN, December 14, 2022] -- The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Kailey Soller to its Board of Directors. Soller, a Strategy, Innovation, and Business Development Manager at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics, has an extensive background in chemistry and biology. A resident of Chanhassen, Soller graduated from the University of Minnesota with a PhD in chemistry in 2017. She has served for nine years as a judge at the Twin Cities Science and Engineering Fair, an affiliate of the Minnesota State Science and Engineering Fair sponsored by MAS.
As an experienced scientist, Soller will play an important role in guiding MAS’ mission of promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education throughout the state. “Growing up, my local Minnesota school didn’t participate in the state-wide science fair so I was initially exposed to the science fair in graduate school as a judge; I absolutely love encouraging young scientists to find their passion,” said Soller. “Now, I’d like to work to uphold the MAS mission of bringing STEM to all Minnesotans through ensuring all Minnesota schools have the opportunity and visibility to participate in MAS events if desired, and to make science more accessible to everyone starting from a young age.”
“Dr. Soller’s experience and passion for STEM learning will be a huge asset in guiding our mission to advance STEM education and excellence in Minnesota,” said Lara Maupin, MAS Executive Director. “As a long-serving Science Fair judge, she will bring valuable insight and knowledge to the MAS Board of Directors.”
Founded in 1873, MAS is a statewide 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to connecting Minnesotans of all backgrounds with resources and opportunities to engage in STEM learning, research, and communication - and to recognize excellence in these areas. MAS’ programs include team competitions, project showcases, and mentoring and enrichment programs that promote STEM inquiry and research.
