[St. Paul, MN, May 16, 2024] -- The Minnesota Academy of Science (MAS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Betsy Hughes as our Interim Executive Director. Hughes, a resident of Mound, has an extensive background in strategic planning and financial management. Hughes holds a Master of Business Administration from the Indiana Kelley School of Business and a Master of Science in Statistics from Purdue University.

As an experienced strategic planner and a committed supporter of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, Hughes will provide steady leadership at MAS as the Board of Directors works to hire permanent executive leadership. Her guidance will be important as MAS continues our mission of providing opportunities for Minnesotans of all backgrounds to engage in STEM-related learning, inquiry, research, and networking.
